Trochę historii
Read the employees giving account of the Poznań brewery’s history.
Tadeusz Kaczorowski, director of the Poznań Brewing Works
“From the very beginning, I advocated establishing a truly modern brewery in Poznań. At first the city authorities would not consent to this idea. The decision in favour of building a new brewery was announced during a meeting of representatives of Wielkopolska’s breweries. The city mayor said: ”We have a brewmaster among us who wants to build a new brewery and that’s what he will be doing”. The news really took me aback.”
Andrzej Piotrowski, the then chief brewmaster
“The construction and commissioning of the brewery posed real challenges; it took 5 years to complete the investment. There were shortages of about anything, including cement and construction steel. I remember how at the early stage the only road from Rataje (residential district) to the brewery led through a muddy field in the winter which changed into romantic fields of rye in the summer. That temporary path served us for several years.”
Zdzisław Zając, the then chief technologist
“The beginnings of the brewery were excellent. We faced new production outputs, the issue of water treatment and shortages of power supply. At the commissioning stage, we would spend over a dozen hours at work. At that time I was the company’s chief technologist so we were working in the front line...”
Paweł Sudoł, President of Kompania Piwowarska SA
“In the early 1990s the brewery was in a good shape and profitable. We were hungry for investments. This is how we built one of the most technologically advanced breweries in Europe. We took on the dreams and expectations of the brewery’s founders.”
