Wielkopolska’s castles and palaces

Embark on a trip tracing the princes, knights and grand families of the Wielkpolska region. Travel in time for a while to find out about life hundreds of years ago. We stop in Kórnik to visit its monumental castle and to travel further to Rogalin with its magnificent residence and Gołuchów offering the sight of a fairy-like castle. The knights’ route stops at LECH Visitors Centre.

Kórnik
Kórnik is located only 20 km to the south-east of Poznań, at Kórnickie Lake. The grand building has always been a property of the great local families. Now the castle is a Neo-Gothic residence from mid-19th century and is owned by the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The castle is surrounded with a park from 18th century and Poland’s biggest wooden plants park. The castle, towering above the city of Kórnik, is certainly worth visiting and so is the arboretum. They offer the visitors a taste of the old splendour and charm of court life.

Rogalin
The construction of the Rogalin residence commenced in 1768. From the very beginning, the palace had been the family manor of the Raczyński family. Edward Raczyński extended the residence with a landscape park and a chapel. What is particularly impressive about the Rogalin residence is its size while the park offers calm, silence and... the famous Rogalin oak trees. Experts claim that three of them: Lech, Czech and Rus are already over 700 years old.

Gołuchów
All visitors are bound to fall in love with this place. The castle in Gołuchów, modelled by the famous Loire Valley chateaus, is among the most magnificent and charming castles in Poland. A former seat of the Działyński family that attracts crowds of tourists every year. They can tour the castle as a museum exhibiting the Polish room, the Ancient room, the antique vase room and the gothic hall.

LECH Visitors Centre
Following the paths once treaded by knights and princesses is a demanding challenge; it is time to relax and feast your eyes on your favourite drink and quench thirst after such an exhausting trip. LECH Visitors Centre is the last stage on the route of Wielkopolska’s castles. The address is 11 Szwajcarska St.; you will embark on a nearly two-hour long beer-related adventure. Only here will you see how beer is made and what happens at successive stages of the process of producing the amber brew. After the tour visitors are welcome at LECH Pub. Tour the brewery and taste the brew after the tour!
